Canada sanctions 22 Belarusian officials for supporting Russian invasion of Ukraine
![]() 1884 Thursday, 17 March, 2022, 20:58 Canada announced sanctions on 22 senior officials of Belarus’ department of defence on Thursday for supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The latest sanctions target members of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s regime who have been in lockstep with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Since Russia invaded Ukraine, the ministry said they have sanctioned more than 500 people and entities from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Canada has also imposed a 35-per cent tariff on goods from Russia and Belarus. |
