Jackpot! Ticket sold in Illinois wins $1.33 billion Mega Millions prize
![]() 1524 Sunday, 31 July, 2022, 22:00 A lucky ticket-holder in Illinois has won a $1.33B Mega Millions prize. The ticket, which was purchased at a Speedway gas station and convenience store in Des Plaines, matched all six numbers in Friday night's drawing. The winning numbers were 13-36-45-57-67, with a gold Mega Ball of 14. Lottery officials had estimated the winning take at $1.28 billion but revised the number up to $1.337 billion on Saturday. The jackpot was the nation's third-largest lottery prize. It grew so large because no one had matched the game’s six selected numbers since it was last won at $20 million in Tennessee on April 15. That’s 29 consecutive draws without a jackpot winner. "In total, there were 14,391,740 winning tickets sold across all nine prize tiers in the July 29 drawing, including the single jackpot-winning ticket," the release noted. The next estimated jackpot will be $20 million. It will be drawn Aug. 8 at 11 p.m. EDT. Mega Millions is played in 45 states as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The game is coordinated by state lotteries. |
