State Department evacuates some US diplomats from Iraq

Iraq may leave personnel whose duties do not include critical missions. The reason for the urgent departure of American diplomats was the increase in the number of threats received against them. At the same time, US government employees are prohibited from using Baghdad International Airport.

For security reasons, the US Department of Foreign Affairs does not recommend that US citizens visit Iraq in the near future. The situation there has become more complicated after the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, in which Washington supports Tel Aviv.
