Pentagon։ United States is fully committed to ensure that Israel has the capabilities to defend itself
![]() 701 Monday, 27 January, 2025, 15:44 US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday in the Pentagon chief’s first call with a foreign official since being sworn in. “The secretary stressed that the United States is fully committed, under President Trump’s leadership, to ensure that Israel has the capabilities it needs to defend itself,” according to the statement, which did not specify why Hegseth spoke with Netanyahu instead of his direct counterpart Israel Katz. The US president confirmed on Saturday that he had lifted a ban on the transfer of about 907 kg of bombs to Israel, imposed by the previous administration of Joe Biden. Trump said the bombs had been "in storage for a long time" and that the Israeli side had paid for them and had been waiting for delivery for a long time.
