EU "will respond firmly" if Trump decides to impose tariffs on the bloc
![]() 2768 Monday, 03 February, 2025, 17:50 The European Union has vowed to “respond firmly” if Donald Trump imposes “unfair” tariffs on the bloc amid threats that the US President will expand his trade war. Mr Trump has said he could follow tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China set to come into force on Tuesday with duties on the EU. “At this time, we are not aware of any additional tariffs being imposed on EU products,” the European Commission said. “However, the EU would respond firmly to any trading partner that unfairly or arbitrarily imposes tariffs on EU goods.” The European Commission has previously stated that: "Tariffs create unnecessary economic disruptions and promote inflation. They are harmful to all parties'. |
