#bneIntellinews: Ruben Vardanyan's and the other Armenians' accusations are purely political
![]() 412 Wednesday, 05 February, 2025, 12:31 The international bne Intellinews magazine has covered the sham trials taking place in Baku, presenting the assessments of international criminal law specialist, Professor Irene Victoria Massimino, and Ruben Vardanyan’s son, David Vardanyan. “The charges brought against Ruben Vardanyan and others are purely political. In the general context of the persecution of Armenians, especially the Armenians of Artsakh, these charges are based solely on political motives. They were fabricated by Azerbaijan,” Massimino noted. In the absence of meaningful international pressure, it seems clear that Azerbaijan will continue with the trials. Massimino says that tangible steps should be taken by Western countries in response. According to Ruben Vardanyan's son, Azerbaijan is not providing proper justice, depriving his father and other defendants of the opportunity to prepare for the trial. "They are getting away with complete disregard of international law and even their own laws. All we can do now is try to put this sham trial in the public eye as much as possible." |
