Lavrov: "The national interests of the Russian Federation and the United States will never completely coincide"

The process of normalizing relations in various areas has begun between Russia and the United States, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

"Movement towards normalizing relations between the Russian Federation and the United States in all areas is beginning," Lavrov said during government hour in the State Duma. According to the minister, the American side emphasized during the negotiations that differences in the interests of states should not lead to confrontation.

"The national interests of the Russian Federation and the United States will never completely coincide; when interests coincide, the parties must benefit."

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted the words of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that the administration of President Donald Trump relies on the recognition of the national interests of countries during the negotiating process.
