Rubio: Washington should maintain dialogue with Moscow despite differences

Washington must maintain dialogue with Moscow despite disagreements, since Russia remains a global power, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an interview published on the social network X.

"At the end, whether we like it or not, Russia is a power, a global power. They have influence in Syria, they are involved in the Middle East, even in the Western Hemisphere, certainly in Europe. We need to have some kind of communication with them," he said.
"The first step should be to restore the work of our embassy in Moscow, which is barely functioning now," Rubio noted.

Speaking about the talks that took place in Riyadh, Rubio noted that the US and Russia did not discuss territorial issues in Riyadh. The meeting had a different goal, they also did not discuss the issue of lifting sanctions.

"The discussions have not yet reached that stage," said Secretary of State Rubio.
