Matviyenko will make an official visit to Yerevan

The Chairperson of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko will make an official visit to Yerevan "to give a new impetus to Russian-Armenian interstate relations." This was discussed during a telephone conversation between the Speaker of the Federation Council and the Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan, which took place at the initiative of the Armenian side, the press service of the Upper house of the Russian parliament reported.

"The details of the upcoming official visit of the Chairperson of the Federation Council to Yerevan at the invitation of her Armenian colleague were discussed in light of the need to give a new impetus to Russian-Armenian interstate relations," the press service of the Federation Council said.

According to Matviyenko, "the visit must be substantively prepared."

The date of the visit has not been announced.
