Peskov: "Russia may take countermeasures to EU militarization"
![]() 556 Friday, 07 March, 2025, 15:03 Russia will need to respond to the EU's militarization to ensure its security. This was stated at a briefing by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, in response to a question from TASS. "It will be necessary to take appropriate countermeasures to ensure our security," the Kremlin spokesman noted. "The European Union presents itself as an adversary of Russia, so discussions about its militarization may cause concern in Moscow. All this militarization is mainly against Russia. This, of course, may be a subject of deep concern for us," Peskov added. It should be recalled that the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, had proposed to the EU countries an 800 billion euro rearmament program and a 1.5% increase in military spending. According to press reports, the EC proposal was approved at the EU summit. |
