![]() 714 Monday, 10 March, 2025, 17:14 Leaders of the Alawite community in Syria have sent a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials asking him to "save" them from persecution by the new Syrian authorities, RIA Novosti reported, citing the i24 TV channel. "After the fall of the (Bashar) Assad regime and the massacre that took place in the Alawite areas against our people, we appeal to the Israeli government to provide protection, assistance and support," the letter, which was obtained by the TV channel, says. Last week, violent clashes broke out in the Syrian provinces of Latakia and Tartus between security forces and armed groups opposed to the new government in Damascus. |
