Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed responsibility on Tuesday for a third attack on an American aircraft carrier group in 48 hours, calling it retaliation for US strikes.
The Houthis said in a Telegram post that they targeted the USS Harry S. Truman carrier group with missiles and drones, making the attack the “third in the past 48 hours” in the northern Red Sea.
The Houthis had earlier stated that the American aircraft carrier was forced to sail to the farthest part of the Red Sea after their strikes.
The Houthi political council also condemned the resumption of Israeli strikes on the Palestinian Gaza Strip, stating that "the Yemeni people will not abandon their support for the Palestinian people."
