Imamoglu has called on all his supporters to gather on March 29

Imamoglu, the imprisoned mayor of Istanbul and a leading rival to Erdoghan, has called on his supporters to hold a rally against Erdoghan on March 29.

"Those whose hearts are filled with justice and love for the country will meet in Maltepe," Imamoglu wrote.

This comes amid a wave of mass protests in Turkey following the arrest of opposition mayor Ekrem Imamoglu on charges of corruption and links to terrorism. Despite government restrictions, anti-government demonstrations continue in major cities across Turkey.
