Ryabkov: "US proposals on Ukraine do not address the root causes of the conflict"

Russia is taking the US proposals on Ukraine seriously, but cannot accept them in the form in which they are presented, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
“We take the proposed models and solutions very seriously, but we cannot accept them as they are. These proposals are an attempt to find some kind of scheme that will allow us to first achieve a ceasefire, as the Americans imagine,” Ryabkov explained.
Then we should move on to some other models and schemes, which, according to Ryabkov, currently lack Russia’s main demand, namely, solving the root causes of the conflict.
“This is completely lacking, and it must be overcome,” the diplomat noted.
Moscow has its own priorities and approaches in this matter, which have been and are being developed, including by the negotiating team of the recent talks in Riyadh,” the deputy minister summed up.
