China's move comes in response to US tariffs, totalling 34% on Chinese goods, announced by Washington this week.
China announced on Friday that it would impose a 34% tariff on imports of all US products beginning on 10 April, part of a flurry of retaliatory measures following US President Donald Trump’s "Liberation Day" slate of double-digit tariffs.
The new levy matches the rate of a 34% US "reciprocal" tariff on Chinese exports that Trump ordered this week.
