Lavrov: "Russia is ready to mediate in negotiations between Iran and the US on the nuclear program"

Russia is ready to act as a mediator in the negotiations between Iran and the United States over the Iranian nuclear program, if the parties show such interest. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"We welcome the desire of Iran and the United States to reach objective agreements on the Iranian nuclear program. Russia is ready to contribute to the negotiation process between Iran and the United States, if necessary," Lavrov said at a joint press conference following talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Lavrov also stressed that Tehran's legitimate interests should be taken into account when discussing the nuclear deal.
"Moscow is ready to contribute to possible agreements between Washington and Tehran on the nuclear agreement, if they take into account Iran's interests," Lavrov said.
