Eiffel tower to go dark on monday night In memory of Pope Francis
![]() 804 Monday, 21 April, 2025, 16:45 The Eiffel Tower's landmark illuminations will be switched off on Monday night in memory of Pope Francis who died aged 88, Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo said. "The lights of the Eiffel Tower will be turned off on the evening of April 21 in memory of the Pontiff. Since 2013, Pope Francis has embodied a universal message of solidarity, peace and humanism. On behalf of myself and all the inhabitants of Paris, I express my sincere condolences to the Catholic faithful of Paris, France and the whole world who mourn the death of the Pontiff today. May his universal message continue to inspire generations to come," the mayor of Paris wrote. |
