Trump says he will attend Pope Francis's funeral
![]() 839 Tuesday, 22 April, 2025, 09:45 resident Donald Trump confirmed Monday in a Truth Social post that he will attend Pope Francis's funeral alongside his wife, First Lady Melania Trump. "Melania and I will be going to the funeral of Pope Francis in Rome. We look forward to being there!" Trump posted late Monday, after hours of speculation over whether the president would attend the service. On April 21, Pope Francis died at the age of 88 in his Vatican residence. The cause of death was a stroke. The body of Pope Francis will be transferred to St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican no later than Wednesday, April 23, Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said. The farewell ceremony for the pontiff will take place there. |
