Grushko: "Moscow is concerned about Armenia's aspirations for the European Union"
![]() 769 Tuesday, 22 April, 2025, 16:51 Moscow is concerned about Armenia’s aspirations to join the European Union, as this could hinder its participation in the Eurasian Economic Union. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko. “Moscow is concerned about Yerevan’s desire to join the EU, as this contradicts Armenia’s commitments in the EAEU. The Russian side has repeatedly raised this issue in contacts with Armenian partners,” Grushko said, according to TASS. According to him, Armenia is achieving significant economic success thanks to its participation in the EAEU. However, if the Western bloc pushes Armenia to change its strategic course, the country risks losing these advantages and facing serious geopolitical challenges. The Deputy Minister noted that such a development could weaken Armenia’s ties with Russia and its other traditional allies. |
