"New sanctions confirm Washington's rejection of diplomatic path" - Bagai
![]() 943 Friday, 23 May, 2025, 16:10 The new US sanctions against Iran’s construction sector, announced on the eve of the fifth round of indirect talks between the two sides, are forcing Tehran to question the seriousness of Washington’s intentions to pursue diplomatic channels. This was stated by the official representative of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghai. “The ongoing rounds of sanctions imposed by the US only strengthen the deep belief of our people that the American authorities intend to make every effort to hinder the development and progress of Iran…. They further question the seriousness of the Americans and their willingness to engage in diplomacy,” Baghai wrote in X. He also noted that he considers the restrictive measures “nothing less than a crime against humanity.” The US State Department issued a statement yesterday about new sanctions against Iran’s construction sector. These sanctions are specifically aimed at companies and organizations that are actively involved in construction and infrastructure projects in Iran. |
