Merz allows delivery of Taurus missiles to Ukraine

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz considered it possible to supply Ukraine with Taurus long-range cruise missiles in an interview with the ZDF television channel.
“Of course, it is possible,” he replied when asked about the possible supply of weapons to Kiev.
At the same time, Merz reminded that preparing the Ukrainian military for the use of the missiles could take a long time.
“We have always said, I myself have said, that Taurus requires months of training for military personnel in Ukraine, and if we supply it in six months or a year, it will not help Ukraine today,” Merz added.
The Taurus KEPD 350/150 is a German-Swedish long-range cruise missile, it is designed to hit highly protected targets without the aircraft carrying it entering the enemy’s air defense zone.
After a visit to Germany on Wednesday, Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Kiev and Berlin were working on the issue of supplying Taurus, but refused to provide details.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that Moscow would view any strike by German Taurus missiles on any Russian target as Kiev's participation in military operations with Berlin.
