"Georgia will be ready for EU membership by 2030" - Kobakhidze
![]() 614 Thursday, 05 June, 2025, 13:46 Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze expressed confidence that the country will be ready for EU membership by 2030. “Our goal is reflected in the Constitution of Georgia - to become a member of the European Union by 2030, which is quite possible if a fair approach is ensured. In 2030, Georgia will be more ready than other countries to join the EU. If there is a fair approach, this will definitely happen. We hope that the approaches in the EU will improve,” the Prime Minister said in a conversation with reporters, adding that at this stage the Georgian side is only listening to the rude and unfounded statements of Western partners about the allegedly “anti-European” actions of the ruling Georgian Dream party. On November 28, 2024, Kobakhidze announced a decision to suspend the discussion of the issue of starting negotiations on the country’s accession to the European Union until 2028. Since then, protests have been held in Georgia demanding new parliamentary elections. |
