Iran's Supreme Leader Appoints Chief of General Staff and IRGC Commander
![]() 1234 Friday, 13 June, 2025, 09:09 Iran's Supreme Leader has appointed Habibollah Sayyari as acting chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces and Ahmad Vahidi as commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, a branch of the Iranian armed forces), Nour News reported. Sayyari previously served as deputy commander of the Iranian army. Earlier, Iranian state television reported the death of Mohammad Bagheri, who held this position, as a result of Israeli strikes. The IRGC confirmed the death of its commander, Hossein Salami. |
