Turkey's Cesme resort area catches fire

A massive forest fire has broken out in the Aegean resort of Cesme, with flames reaching homes and residents of three villages having been evacuated, NTV reported on Wednesday.
The fire broke out in agricultural fields in the Ildir region, and strong winds have spread the fire into the forest. “Five planes, 18 helicopters and 36 fire engines are battling the blaze,” the channel reported.
“Residents of the villages of Ildir, Germiya and Nohutalan have been evacuated due to the fire,” the channel reported.
Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumakli said earlier on Wednesday that firefighters had managed to extinguish the fires that broke out in the Menderes and Seferihisar districts of Izmir province after several days.
Forest fires also broke out in the western Turkish provinces of Bursa and Kocaeli on Wednesday.
