Aliyev refused to hold a meeting with Putin's personal envoy
![]() 854 Thursday, 10 July, 2025, 10:41 Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has refused to hold a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin's envoy, the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, one of the Russian Telegram channels reported. Baku had put forward one main precondition: Russia must admit the fact of shooting down the E190 plane in the sky over Grozny on December 25, 2024. It is noteworthy that during Kurenkov's visit to Baku, the court rejected the petition to change the preventive measure for Russian journalists. They remained in custody. Kremlin media reported that the main purpose of Kurenkov's visit to Baku was to meet in a narrow circle of emergency ministers. At the same time, Kurenkov tried to have informal contact with Aliyev, but the Azerbaijani presidential administration refused to receive the Russian minister. On July 6, it was reported that Moscow was actively preparing for the visit in order to resolve the existing differences between the two countries informally. |
