![]() 458 Friday, 18 July, 2025, 15:01 The Belgian House of Representatives adopted a resolution during its plenary session on July 18, condemning Azerbaijan’s military attack against the Armenians of Artsakh and its violations of international law. This was reported by the Armenian Cause Central Office of the ARF Bureau. The resolution was adopted consentaneous. Тhe adopted resolution states that Azerbaijan’s actions against Nagorno-Karabakh and its Armenian population contradict the fundamental norms of international law. The Belgian legislative body emphasized that stable and long-term peace in the region is possible only if the territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan is mutually respected. The resolution clearly condemned the threats and rhetoric of the Azerbaijani authorities in the context of the “Western Azerbaijan” discourse. The resolution also refers to Baku’s illegal detention and incomprehensible trials of the former leaders of Nagorno-Karabakh. Strongly condemning this policy of Azerbaijan, the latter is called upon to release all Armenian prisoners and guarantee a fair trial. The House of Representatives demands that Azerbaijan ensure the preservation of the cultural and religious heritage of Nagorno-Karabakh and calls for the permission of a UNESCO mission to enter the territory to assess the damage. The resolution welcomes the initiative for a peace agreement and emphasizes the urgency of its signing. It calls on all parties to respect the provisions of the agreement. |
