Russia and Ukraine exchange prisoners
![]() 555 Thursday, 24 July, 2025, 09:45 Ukraine and Russia have carried out another round of prisoner swaps. This is the ninth exchange within the framework of the agreements reached in Istanbul in early June. The exchange is believed to have been carried out on a “250-for-250” basis. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that more than 1,000 people have been released from captivity over the summer. “The soldiers returning today defended Ukraine on various fronts. Many of them have been in captivity for more than three years. All of them will receive the necessary support and medical care,” Zelensky wrote. The Russian military ministry confirmed the exchange. However, the official departments of Kiev and Moscow did not specify the exact number of those exchanged. |
