"At a certain point, Azerbaijan and Armenia preferred direct dialogue, we respect this choice" - Zakharova

Russia is interested in a stable, secure, peaceful and prosperous South Caucasus, and one of the necessary conditions for achieving this is the long-awaited reconciliation between Baku and Yerevan. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, recalling that Russia has done a lot to contribute to the Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement.

“At a certain point, Azerbaijan and Armenia preferred direct dialogue, and we respect this choice,” Zakharova noted, emphasizing that Russia is ready to continue to provide support in this matter. Zakharova welcomed the direct contacts between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, in particular, the recent meeting of the two leaders in Abu Dhabi.
