This was announced by Prime Minister Mark Carney, reports The Guardian. According to Carney, Canada will recognize Palestine if the country's administration holds elections in 2026, in which Hamas will not be able to participate. Canada also expects Palestine to agree to other democratic reforms. Carney called on Hamas to release all hostages, disarm and not interfere in the future governance of Palestine. Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also announced their intention to recognize Palestine. |
