Uraloğlu: "Turkey will receive $3.6 billion from the exploitation of the Zangezur Corridor in 30 years"
![]() 3493 Saturday, 23 August, 2025, 21:06 Turkey expects to receive 147.6 billion liras ($3.6 billion at current exchange rates) from the operation of its section of the "Zangezur Corridor" over 30 years. As Report says, citing TRT Haber, this was announced by Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu in Igdir. "According to the 30-year forecast, the operating income will be 135 billion liras, accident reduction - 3 billion liras, climate benefits - 2.1 billion liras, time savings - 3.5 billion liras, road maintenance savings - 4 billion liras. Thus, the income over 30 years will be 147.6 billion liras," the minister said. Uraloğlu noted that after the corridor is put into operation, Turkey will return many times the investments made in the construction of its section, the Kars-Igdir-Aralık-Dilujü railway. According to him, the Zangezur corridor is important for the entire region, including because this route will support the Middle Corridor. “This will significantly save travel time compared to sea transport. In general, we need all kinds of alternatives. Investments in this project should be considered strategic,” the Turkish minister said. According to him, the “Zangezur corridor” will become the shortest route connecting Turkey with the Turkic states and the Far East. |
