The surge follows a recent tender offer by Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) that valued the company at about $800 billion, based on information from investors quoted by Forbes. The new valuation pushed Musk’s estimated fortune to around $677 billion, widening the gap between him and the world’s second-richest individual, Google co-founder Larry Page.
