Tashi Gyalzen Sherpa receives Guinness certificate for most Everest summits in one season

Nepali mountaineer Tashi Gyalzen Sherpa has been recognized by Guinness World Records for summiting Mount Everest four times in a single spring season, a feat he completed within 15 days in May 2025.
According to Guinness World Records, Sherpa reached the 8,848.86-metre summit from the Nepal (south) side on May 9, 14, 19 and 23, 2025, setting the record for the most Everest ascents in a single season. The official certificate confirms the achievement as part of last year's climbing season.
The 30-year-old climber from Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality–4 in Solukhumbu first summited on May 9 as part of the rope-fixing team responsible for opening the route to the top. He returned to the summit on May 14 in a solo climb, followed by a third ascent on May 19 while guiding a client. His fourth summit came on May 23, again climbing solo. Sherpa was working with 8K Expeditions during the season.
Since beginning his mountaineering journey in 2017, Sherpa has built an extensive high-altitude résumé. In addition to Everest, he has climbed Cho Oyu, Manaslu and Ama Dablam, and has served on rope-fixing teams on other major Himalayan peaks. He has received professional training at the Khumbu Climbing Centre and holds first aid certification.
While Sherpa climbers have long been integral to Everest expeditions, international accolades such as Guinness recognition increasingly spotlight their individual athletic and technical achievements.
Sherpa described the record as a moment of pride not only for himself but for the wider Sherpa community.
The certification marks another milestone in the evolving global perception of Nepali high-altitude climbers, from logistical backbone of expeditions to headline-making mountaineers commanding international recognition.
