Macron says France, US to protect navigation in Strait of Hormuz

On September 21, French President Emmanuel Macron announced an agreement with American leader Donald Trump to work together to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and reduce tensions in the energy markets.

"We decided to work together to reduce tensions in the energy markets, ensuring the protection of critical infrastructure in the Middle East and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz," reads a post on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

In addition, according to the French leader, the parties plan to seek "the introduction of a moratorium on strikes on energy facilities in Ukraine." Macron also stressed the need to start negotiations on the terms of resolving the conflict between Moscow and Kiev.
