The skeleton of a Nanotyrannus dinosaur, nicknamed "Jodie," was sold for $47.3 million at a Sotheby’s auction in New York, ABC reports.
The auction house had initially estimated the 67-million-year-old skeleton would fetch between $6 million and $9 million.
Sotheby’s said the new owner preferred to remain anonymous.
The sale makes “Jodie” the second most expensive dinosaur skeleton in history. The fossil of a tyrannosaur named “Gus” was sold for $50.1 million in New York on July 15.
