Before the attack on Shushi it was decided that Karot should go to Shahumyan to engage in the defense of Buzdukh. At the time he was upset that he wouldn’t participate in the liberation of Shushi, but he said:" It’s not a big deal, I will not go back home from Karabakh till we liberate Getashen and Shahumyan"… And he never went back…
Karot Mkrtchyan is still considered missing. He is awarded with the medal of Military Cross of the 1st Degree (NKR) and with the order of Battle Cross 2nd degree (Republic of Armenia)…Eternal Glory…
