Britain hands over high-speed STARStreak MANPADS to Ukraine – Wallace

British Defense Minister Ben Wallace confirmed the transfer of STARStreak high-speed man-portable air defense systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“We supply them. They will go to the theater of operations,” Wallace said.

He previously announced the transfer of these weapons and clarified that “this remains within the definition of defensive weapons, but allows Ukrainian forces to better protect their skies.”

Wallace did not specify the number of STARStreaks transmitted.

Britain has already delivered 3,615 anti-tank weapons to Ukraine and will soon deliver a small batch of Javelin anti-tank missiles, Wallace said.

Starstreak is a British man-portable anti-aircraft missile system designed to destroy low-flying enemy helicopters and aircraft.

Starstreak is considered the world’s fastest short-range surface-to-air missile. MANPADS Starstreak can hit air targets at an altitude of up to 5 km.

As UNIAN wrote, President Joe Biden said tonight that the United States will soon transfer $1 billion worth of defense assistance to Ukraine, which includes 800 air defense systems and 9,000 anti-tank systems, drones, 7,000 small arms and 20 million ammunition for them.

It is reported that the American kamikaze UAVs Switchblade 300 and Switchblade 600 will be delivered to Ukraine. They are designed to destroy both equipment and infantry.
