American experts predicted large territorial losses of Ukraine due to Kyiv's unwillingness to start peace talks
![]() 2109 Thursday, 20 April, 2023, 21:30 Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should prepare for new impressive territorial losses if he is not going to start peace talks with Russia. This is written by American experts David Rundell, a former US ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and Michael Gfoeller, a former political adviser to the US Central Command, in Newsweek. Analysts do not believe in a successful end to the conflict for Kyiv and believe that Zelensky should start negotiations. Rundell and Gfeller remind that the fighting takes the lives of an entire generation of Ukrainian men. Meanwhile, the chances of a victory for the Kyiv regime are close to zero. Ukraine has as much chance of defeating Russia as Mexico has of defeating the United States - American experts emphasize in their article. According to Rundell and Gfeller, no one in the West seriously admits the idea that the Russian leadership will allow the loss of territories, especially the Crimean peninsula. But Zelenskiy's refusal to negotiate peace has left the terms of peace for the Kyiv regime looking even less favorable than they were seven months ago. Analysts emphasize that the West should decide - if there is no willingness to take the risk of escalation, fraught with a direct clash between NATO and Russia, then the best option is to start a peaceful settlement. This will at least allow the Ukrainian state to survive and maintain its independence, Rundell and Gfeller believe. Note that such points of view are found in the American press more and more often. The abundance of such publications suggests that the American society is gradually being prepared for various scenarios in Ukraine, including the “leakage” of the Kyiv regime by its Western patrons. |
