Afghanistan to attend COP29 climate talks for the first time since Taliban takeover

It's a rare invitation for the Taliban - the AFP reports that an Afghan delegation will attend the United Nations climate change summit which starts on Monday in Azerbaijan. In February this year, the country reopened its embassy in Kabul, but it hasn't recognised the Taliban authorities since they took power in 2021 - nor has any other country.
