Unprecedented weather conditions in Georgia have caused death

Unfavorable weather conditions - snow, blizzard, fog, ice - will persist in Western Georgia until February 27, the level of danger on the roads is assessed as high, the National Environment Center reported.
Snowfall hit the regions of Western Georgia on February 22. In some areas, there were problems with the supply of gas and electricity, public transport is not working, restrictions have been introduced on the roads, and classes in kindergardens and schools have been suspended. The Batumi airport and railway are operating with restrictions.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze issued an order to involve the Georgian Defense Forces in the fight against the consequences of heavy snowfall that hit the western regions of the country.
As a result of an accident caused by the consequences of the snowfall, a resident of the village of Konchkati in the Ozurgeti district of Guria died. The man died under a concrete slab while helping his neighbor clear the roof of snow.
The Rikoti mountain pass, which connects the western and eastern parts of Georgia, has been opened since Wednesday morning, Georgian media reported.
