EU foreign policy chief Kaia Kallas has confirmed that the EU summit will discuss the €5 billion military aid to Kiev. She told reporters after arriving at the summit.
“We will discuss the initiative to provide Ukraine with €5 billion military aid, which Ukraine really needs,” she said. Asked why EU countries are no longer discussing Kallas’s earlier proposal to provide Kiev with €40 billion, the diplomat said it was due to “budgetary problems” in EU countries.
“It is now realistic to discuss the €5 billion plan,” Kallas said.
Earlier, the European Commission announced that it intended to supply Ukraine with 2 million artillery shells by 2025.
