Carney: "The era of friendship with the US is over"
![]() 650 Friday, 28 March, 2025, 11:15 Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that Canada's old relationship with the United States, "based on deepening integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperation, is over". Speaking to reporters in Ottawa after a cabinet meeting, Carney said Canadians must "fundamentally reimagine our economy" in the face of US President Donald Trump's tariffs. He also announced that he will hold a conversation with Trump in the coming days. “It is unclear exactly what the United States will do next, but one thing is clear: we Canadians have the freedom to choose. We have the power. We are the masters of our own home,” Carney was quoted as saying by Bloomberg. |
