Israel announces ground operation in Gaza
![]() 869 Saturday, 29 March, 2025, 21:51 The Israeli military says that ground operations have begun in al-Jnaina, a neighbourhood in southern Gaza’s Rafah. The military said that the aim of the operation was to expand a “security zone” in southern Gaza. "In the past few hours, IDF troops have begun ground operations in the Rafah Al-Janina area to expand the security zone in southern Gaza," the IDF said in a statement posted on its Telegram channel. Earlier, Israel resumed hostilities in the Gaza Strip after a nearly two-month ceasefire. Senior officials in the Jewish state explained the need to resume the war by the fact that the Palestinian Hamas movement refused to accept the American plan to extend the ceasefire and release Israeli hostages. |
