Zakharova: “We have always accepted the pain of the Armenian people as our own pain”

In Russia, the pain of the fraternal Armenian people has always been perceived as their own pain. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during a briefing, referring to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

“Moscow’s position on the events of 1915 is well known: it is consistent and based on humanitarian principles,” Zakharova noted.

According to her, Moscow was one of the first to officially recognize the genocide, and in 2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a visit to Armenia, took part in a ceremony to commemorate the victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire and expressed sincere sympathy for the Armenian people.
