Britain cannot ignore the threat posed by Russia. The country will increase its defense spending to ensure the war-fighting readiness of its armed forces. This was announced by Prime Minister Keir Starmer at a press conference in Glasgow, TASS reports, stressing that the main goal of the British army will now be to transition to constant war-fighting readiness.

"We cannot ignore the threat posed by Russia. We saw what happened in Ukraine just three years ago.

Britain is moving to a "war readiness" mode as part of its new defense strategy," Starmer said.

According to the source, Britain plans to build up to 12 new nuclear submarines to counter growing global threats, and the Ministry of Defense will invest 15 billion pounds sterling in a nuclear arsenal with new warheads.

The 130-page document, which Starmer called a “radical plan”, sets out 62 proposals to move towards a higher level of war-fighting readiness. Key proposals include building up to six new munitions factories, stockpiling 7,000 long-range missiles and a new cyber command.

Defence Secretary John Healy warned that ministers must act “resolutely to counter Russian aggression” and ensure that the UK is “safe at home and strong abroad”.
