IDF announces liquidation of radical Mujahideen Brigades commander

The Israel Defense Forces announced the elimination of the commander of the radical group "Mujahideen Brigades" (Kataib al-Mujahideen) in Gaza City.

"During a joint operation by the Israel Defense Forces and the General Security Service in Gaza City, terrorist Assad Abu Sharaya, who had led the terrorist organization "Mujahideen Brigades" in the Gaza Strip in recent years, was eliminated," the army press service said in a statement. The department added that "in another attack, a militant of this group, Mahmoud Hamed, was eliminated."

The Israeli army noted that the radicals of the "Mujahideen Brigades" participated in the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, kidnapping and holding people hostage.
