Khamenei transfers his main powers to the IRGC Supreme Council
![]() 1128 Wednesday, 18 June, 2025, 16:40 Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has transferred his main powers to the Supreme Council of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran International reported. While Iran has not officially declared a state of war, judicial officials have confirmed that the country is effectively operating under a state of emergency. The transfer of powers is seen as a precautionary measure to ensure continuity of command in the event of Khamenei's assassination. The move follows reports that Khamenei has moved to an underground bunker in the city of Lavizan, northeast of Tehran, along with his family. Earlier, US President Donald Trump wrote that they know exactly where Khamenei is. "He's an easy target, but he's safe there. We're not going to take him out, at least not now. But we don't want missiles fired at civilians or American soldiers. "Our patience is running out," the US president wrote on the Truth Social platform. |
