Starting August 1st, a 30% tariff will be imposed on goods imported into the United States from the European Union and Mexico, US President Donald Trump announced.
“Starting August 1, 2025, we will impose a 30% tariff on goods imported into the United States from the European Union, in addition to sectoral tariffs,” the White House chief wrote in a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, published on Truth Social.
Trump also sent a similar letter to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. According to him, the republic has not taken sufficient measures to prevent the spread of drugs and smuggling into the United States.
