Trump: "Putin's visit to the US is a gesture of respect"

Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to the United States will be considered a sign of respect. This was announced by US President Donald Trump at a press conference at the White House.

Trump noted that the main goal of the upcoming meeting with Putin is to stop the conflict in Ukraine. This meeting is of a preliminary nature, aimed at assessing the possibility of concluding an agreement, discussing ways to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine.

In addition, the US president intends to initiate a meeting between Putin and Zelensky.

The summit of the Russian and US presidents is scheduled for August 15 in the US state of Alaska.

The Russian side expresses hope that the next meeting of the leaders of the two countries will take place directly in Russia, and this proposal has already been brought to the attention of the US president.

On the eve of the scheduled meeting with Vladimir Putin, on August 13, Trump will organize a telephone conversation with Vladimir Zelensky, in which representatives of European states will participate, RBC reports.
