"Ukraine's membership in NATO is ruled out" - Trump before Alaska
![]() 558 Friday, 15 August, 2025, 19:02 The United States, along with European countries, can provide security guarantees to Ukraine, but the option of its joining NATO is excluded, US President Donald Trump told reporters as he left for Anchorage for a meeting with Russian President Putin. “Maybe join Europe and other countries, but not NATO, because certain things are not going to happen,” Trump said, answering a journalist’s question about the prospects of providing security guarantees to Kiev. In April, Trump also ruled out the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO within the framework of an agreement on mineral extraction. In his opinion, Ukraine’s desire to join the alliance could be the cause of a large-scale conflict with Russia. |
