Transatlantic unity is now essential to achieving a lasting peace in Ukraine, said European Council President Antonio Costa.

“As I stressed at the Coalition of the Willing, if a ceasefire agreement is not reached, the EU and the US will have to increase pressure on Russia.

Ukraine’s sovereign right to determine its own peace terms must be respected.

We welcome the US’s readiness to play a role in providing security guarantees to Ukraine to deter future Russian aggression and to jointly secure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. Europe stands ready to play its part,” Costa said.
